Our best known local artist, the acclaimed Juan Guirado, has recently been busy with visits and invitations to various museums. He has been travelling to the north of Spain – where an exhibition of his work is due – plus trips both to Britain and the United States.
The exhibition in Santander will be the first to be held in a new museum nearing construction there and where Mr Guirado has been invited to become a member of the board of trustees.
Perhaps even more exciting is the announcement of a forthcoming major exhibition of the artist’s work to be held at the Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art in New York.
The artist, born in Jaen but living in Vera Playa for the past few years, has been busy creating his uncompromising canvases for the past two years and will soon be returning to ‘the active life of the itinerant artist’.

Pilar Pérez (above right), who has run for many years a successful ‘gestoría’ on Mojácar Playa now spends an increasing amount of time immersed in her other project, a community farm/school/hospice called Indalo Solidario located in a small village in Brasil called Itaporanga. There, the charity takes care of a community of Indians, helping to feed, cure, educate and prepare them for the modern world which is increasingly affecting their traditional lives. As the paperwork for this non-governmental organisation are finalised, we ask that any contribution to this project could be sent to Pilar Pérez’s bank account 3058 0190 31 2720001376
