If your favourite time is the summer, when the sea is warm and inviting, where the parties, the fiestas, the concerts and the fun just don’t ever seem to stop, then this edition is dedicated to you. Put down the book and head for the street, there are lots of new people just waiting to meet; the action won’t stop so don’t miss a beat; the restaurants invite you to come in and eat, the summertime frenzy, the laughter, the heat. Recitals and scuba and riding so neat, it’s a wonder you’ve time left to go for a treat. The Almerian levante. Where we live. All year round. Nothing beats it.
This month, Angel writes about being a writer and Lenox tries to talk with his fingers. Peter watches the peace and JAFO tries to call us on the iPhone. Gwyneth takes the metro while Jocelyne prefers the train. Richard has a vision, the Brigadier gets stuck behind a donkey while Lenox, in a second piece, reckons that… nothing has changed… much! Terry uncovers a plot, David watches his dog, and Gwyneth returns with news of a new editorial for children. Aneurin worries about the Big Guy, Sergio saves the planet and Lorenzo goes to the movies. There’s some scary tale of a narrow escape from Dave and Alan tells us about the lost radio channel. Together with our what’s on, a bit of news and a few good jokes, that’s this month’s edition. There's lots to read – Say! Perhaps there’s no time to go out after all!
Our picture didn’t take very long to prepare – a few steps across the road down to the playa to collect some pebbles and bits of sea-glass. Then a swim, a cold beer, a quick plate of shrimps and, uh... another beer, then back to the office to finish this edition of The New Entertainer – for August!
It's true, there are a lot of people visiting the area this year, more than ever perhaps. But, say the restaurants, they are filling up at the supermarkets and taking their meals in their apartments. The bar-owners say the same, that they are drinking in their rented or mortgaged accomodation - well - to save a few euros on the holidays. Perhaps it's true, but the ever-growing number of full-time residents should be making up for any short-fall from the tourists. So, don't forget us, please, Mr Barman and Mrs Shop-keeper, because we'll still be here, enjoying our life, next month and over the winter and so on. We live in a beautiful, warm, easy and pleasant land, we are the real beachcombers, artists, bohemians and neighbours. This is our land! |
